Welcome to the Hillside Library page

On this page you will be able to find out what is happening in Hillside Library, recommended new books and old favourites to read and all about upcoming events and competitions.

WELL DONE to all the children who completed the Summer Reading Challenge and thank you to the parents and carers who supported them with this.

Our Library has nearly 9,000 books covering stories, poetry and information for everyone from Nursery to Year 6, Staff and Parents. So whether you want a good story to read, an exciting picture book, a book to help with homework or to find out more about your hobby, the Library is the place to be. If you can’t find what you are looking for then ask Mrs Hodge for help.

Over the summer break the Reading Books moved into the Library making it the “one-stop” place for your children to find books to help develop their reading.

All classes have a library lesson during the week when they have the opportunity to change their books and sit and read. The Library is open at lunchtime for reading, research and Lego, Tuesday is the day for year 2 and years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have the rest of the week.

The Library is also open from 8.30 every morning so please take the opportunity to pop in when you drop your children at school. You may wish to help your child choose their library book, share a story with a younger child or have some questions about books. Mrs Hodge, the Librarian, is very happy to help you. Access is from the KS2 playground.

The Red House Reading Group has started again meeting every week on a Tuesday after school (yrs 5 and 6) and our Boys Reading Group, for those less keen on reading, will be starting very soon.
